VisionMOS begins volume shipment of video recorder systems to Elcan
July 31, 2009 - Tempe, AZ

– VisionMOS announces the start of volume production shipments of the VM-A002 micro Digital Video Recorder (mDVR).  Under the program shipments will be made to Elcan Optical Technologies (a Raytheon Company) through at least the second quarter of 2010.  The embedded computer controlled system enables recording capability in several products, including the Elcan line of binocular thermal sights.

The VisionMOS mDVR, one of the world’s smallest video recorder products, can be remotely controlled for video preview, recording, playback and storage.  The system allows a remote operator to capture a video signal from the video source or camera and store it to a local solid-state memory.  Video storage is made possible using an integrated MPEG4 video coder.  Available hardware and software interfaces make the system versatile enough to integrate into many existing platforms.

The infrared binocular system is being sold into ruggedized COTS and military applications.  The functionality can be extended into a number of embedded video and image capture applications, including security, driver assist and customized displays.
