3D Industrial Artwork & Rendering

The VisionMOS industrial design team can work from the initial design concepts and requirements specification to develop new industrial artwork to base the product on. This artwork is rendered as 3-dimensional end product drawings for evaluation and comment by the customer. These designs can be the basis of other product mechanical features including the board layout and detailed industrial design.

The initial design process may also start with a customer supplied drawing or full industrial design. It is possible to render a new completed model from just a drawing, or we can adapt a new tooling design to an existing set of models.

Industrial Detailed Design

Detailed industrial design consists of surface by surface drawings to create the end product design. This is typically performed in SolidWorks or similar CAD software. The design is unique for each sub component of the full system. The end result of the design step is photo plots that can be used as the input to the modeling, SLA prototyping and downstream steps of machined or injected fabrication of the device.

3D modeling and clearance

3D modeling takes all of the detailed design elements electronically, and builds an exploded view model of the entire system as it would be assembled. This model includes the various housing components as well as board and electrical component details to ensure the right fit the first time. The model is studied in detail to improve thermal, manufacturing and mechanical tolerance issues that may exist with the initial design. The 3D exploded views are also used in downstream processes that included manufacturing documentation and final assembly.

SLA prototyping

Stereolithography is a rapid prototyping tool used on many industrial designs to ensure a good fit as well as ergonomic and aesthetic product design. VisionMOS has extensive experience and long standing partnerships that enables this service to be completed inexpensively and very quickly. The physical SLA parts are both evaluated in terms of the 3D model, and can be provided to the end customer for an early evaluation of the mechanical product outline. The SLA may also be finished with sanding, painting and detail using the VisionMOS finishing services as needed by the customer.
